São Paulo – The Focus Bulletin was released this Monday (17th) by the Brazilian Central Bank (BC) and indicates, for the first time, a recession of the Brazilian economy also in 2016. The Focus Bulletin is the result of a weekly survey about economic outlooks that the BC does with financial institutions. In the document, the market forecasts a retraction of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 0.15% in 2016. In last week’s edition, the survey envisioned stability for next year. For 2015, the forecast for the GDP’s retraction was reviewed to 2.01%, higher than the 1.97% estimated last week.
The bulletin shows, for the first time in 17 weeks, that the estimation for the official inflation stopped ascending and remained stable at 9.32% for 2015. For 2016, the previous estimation was of 5.43%. Now, it stands at 5.44%. The estimation for the dollar went up from R$ 3.40 to R$ 3.48 in 2015 and from R$ 3.50 to R$ 3.60 in 2016.
