São Paulo – Mauritania should grow 6.7% this year, the country’s president Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz has said, according to the news agency Panapress. The annual inflation rate should be 4.2%, according to him. "Thanks to the measures taken by the government in order to cushion the impact of hikes in basic goods’ prices and the implementation of a fair monetary policy,” said Aziz.
According to president Aziz, the country’s good economic performance has been acknowledged by international financial institutions. He spoke this week during the celebrations of the 53rd anniversary of Mauritanian independence. In September, the country performed well in several economic indicators, hence the president’s optimism.
