São Paulo – The National Committee for Refugees (CONARE), a body linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety, has opened registrations to those interested in doing volunteer work in the committee. Registrations are open until August 6.
The volunteers will do office work focusing on helping refugees in Brasília. According to information made available by the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety, the work includes transcripting audio interviews with asylum-seekers, investigating and diagnosing of geopolitical matters of the refugees’ home countries.
Applicants are required to have advanced skills in English, French or Spanish and to either be undergraduate students or hold a degree. There’s a preference for people in the fields of Law, International Affairs, Social or Political Sciences, Social Services and other related fields.
CONARE also requires volunteers to be pro-active, organized and capable of helping people in vulnerable situations. Volunteers will receive a certificate of the activities performed if they complete the minimum period established without interruptions.
The activities start on August 14 and run for three months, with the possibility of an extension. At least 12 hours per week available are required. Read below how to register.
