Dubai – Companies participating in the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade delegation to the Middle East, promoted this week in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, informed that they have business perspectives of US$ 81.3 million over the next 12 months, according to figures disclosed on Friday (18), by the Ministry.
The estimate was by 26 industrial and trading groups that participated in business roundtables with Arabs. According to the Ministry, 503 contacts were made with 232 importers. Apart from executives from the Emirates and Saudi, companies from Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan and Lebanon also participated. Brazilian companies mainly offered food and beverages, household and construction products.
In total, the delegation included the presence of over 40 companies. Apart from those at the roundtables, there were separate agendas for companies in defence and building sectors and for institutions seeking investment for projects in Brazil.
Construction companies, for example, visited organisations responsible for works in both countries to learn about projects and how to participate, as did banks like the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, from the Emirates, which offers financing for infrastructure works and others. Different from the other companies, contractors also participated in meetings in Qatar. OAS, Andrade Gutierrez, Queiroz Galvão and Fidens were in the delegation.
The investment attraction part consisted in the promotion of seminars for presentation of projects in different areas. Modal Bank promoted enterprises in the hotel sector; Terra Roxa Investimentos, infrastructure projects; the Rio Grande do Sul Development and Investment Promotion Agency Agência (AGDI) promoted the state of Rio Grande do Sul and a port; hotel chain Four Seasons, its first hotel in Brazil; BH Technology Park, a technology park in Minas Gerais state capital; and Inhotin Greenhouse Projects, an initiative for development of greenhouses for development of biomes, with possible use in the areas of tourism and research.
Companies in the defence sector had meetings with state-owned organisations.
Brunch
As the last engagement in the Emirates, Development minister Fernando Pimentel, who headed the country delegation, participated on Friday, in Abu Dhabi, in a “brunch” with representatives of Brazilian companies that have branches in the region, like BRF, Seara, Tramontina, JBS, Queiroz Galvão, Andrade Gutierrez, Dental Flex, Guaraná, DHB, Marcopolo and Vale. On Saturday, Pimentel has an agenda in Riyadh, the Saudi capital.
