São Paulo – The first day of Djazagro, a food industry trade fair that kicked off today (12th) in Algeria, resulted in promising contacts for Mococa, a dairy industry company. “We made important contacts,” said the company’s foreign trade manager, Sandro da Conceição.
This is the first time at the fair for the company, which is in a Brazilian stand organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and by the Ministry of Foreign Relations. According to Conceição, the Algerian market is very interesting for the company’s products.
Condensed milk, chocolate powder, milk caramel, and other desserts and dairy beverages are part of Mococa’s catalogue at the fair. According to Conceição, Arab countries are among the markets that the company is working to increase exports to. In February, the manager was at the Gulfood fair, in Dubai.
The Arab Brazilian Chamber’s stand also features canned fish company Gomes da Costa, which already exports to various Arab countries such as Morocco, Libya, Syria and Lebanon. According to the Chamber’s Marketing assistant, Filipe Ferraz, the two companies made promising contacts. “They were few, but they were high quality,” he said. The stand was also sought by Algerian importers seeking Brazilian sugar.
In addition to Ferraz, the Chamber’s Foreign Trade analyst, Frederico Pucci, is also in Algiers to provide support to Brazilian and Arab businessmen interested in doing trade with Brazil.
The Djazagro fair, which will continue until Thursday (15th), runs the gamut from processed foodstuff and ingredients to their manufacturing and packaging. According to Pucci, Algeria is a strong food importer and the world’s third largest importer of milk and dairy products. The country is also the leading food importer in Africa.
