São Paulo – The Moroccan tour operator Monarch Travel has an office in Brazil to take tourists directly to Morocco, with no stops in Europe. “The Brazilian market is growing. The national airline (Royal Air Maroc) will start flying to the country on a regular basis, and that has made them want to operate here,” says Alessandra Savoia, the company representative in Brazil.
Monarch Travel has been on the market since 1996 and its main line of work is to take tourists from Europe to Morocco. Traditionally, Brazilians pass through Europe before going to the North African country. Monarch Brazil established an office in São Paulo in May and is negotiating partnerships with Brazilian tour operators to sell packages. “Right now we are trying to sense how the market will receive this new operator,” says Savoia.
“The idea is to provide services to two major operators and ten small ones. The big ones carry bigger groups of tourists, and the smaller ones carry smaller groups and individuals,” she explains. “We will present the destinations to the operators and show how they should sell these destinations. We will collect information,” says the representative.
According to Savoia, the cities that attract Brazilians the most in Morocco are Casablanca, Marrakech and Rabat. “There are many great attractions in Morocco, but the imperial cities are the most sought after. They are places where they had the great empires, ancient cities,” she says.
To her, the direct flights between Casablanca and São Paulo from Royal Air Maroc, scheduled to begin on December 20th, will greatly facilitate the flow of Brazilian tourists to Morocco. “Generally, people go through Spain and then Casablanca. With Royal Air Maroc, it will not be as tiresome because there are no scales,” she says.
