São Paulo – Brazilian motorcycle exports declined 4.7% in the first nine months of this year in comparison to the same period of last year, according to data made available this Friday (7) by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Moped and Bicycle Manufacturers (Abraciclo).
In all, Brazil shipped abroad 43,752 motorcycles from January to September of this year, against 45,922 in the same period of 2015. In September, external sales totaled 4,298 vehicles and dropped 5% over August, when 4,522 motorcycles were shipped.
The sector is also facing a negative performance with other operations. Output declined 31% year-to-date ending in September with 712,870 units produced. It was the lowest output level since 2003. In September, 80,489 motorcycles were produced, a decline of 13.3% over August.
Wholesale to Brazilian dealers decreased 28.7% from January to September with 683,453 units. Last month, 76,268 units were sold, a drop of 8.4% over August. The domestic fleet has 24 million motorcycles, according to Abraciclo.
