São Paulo – Motorcycle exports from Brazil were up 14.3% in October from September, the Brazilian Motorcycle, Moped and Bicycle Manufacturers Association (Abraciclo) reported this Tuesday (6). A total of 4,911 units were exported. The number is down 55.2% from October 2015. Year-to-date through October, exports fell 14.4% to 48,663 motorcycles.
Industry output reached 71,221 units in October, down 11.5% from September and 31.8% over October 2015. Year-to-date output stood at 784,091 units, down 353,012 motorcycles from the year-ago period. “The numbers still reflect uncertainty regarding the economy, and despite the lackluster scenario, we still believe in a marginal recovery before the year ends, with the coming of the summer, which encourages people to ride bikes, plus the fact that people get paid their 13th wages,” a press release quoted Abraciclo chairman Marcos Fermanian as saying.
