São Paulo – The Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles and Similar Products (Abraciclo) reported this Thursday (8) that 77,730 motorcycles were made in Brazil last May. The amount is up 20.7% from April, but down 15.8% from May 2016.
Year-to-date through May, 373,491 units were made, down 2.5% from a year ago.
Last month, 3,519 motorcycles were exported from Brazil, down 37.2% from May 2016 and down 7.5% from April 2017. Year-to-date through May, 24,767 units were exported, up 5.5% from January to May 2016.
The biggest destinations of Brazilian motorcycles were Argentina, Colombia, the United States, Australia and Canada.
Abraciclo estimates that national production will be up 2.5% by the end of the year, with exports increasing by 57.6%.
