São Paulo – Petrobras announced today (25) two new oil discoveries in Campos Basin, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. According to the company, the finds were made with the drilling of just one well, named 6-BR-63A-RJS, in Barracuda field, 100 kilometres off the coast.
The sea depth at the site is 860 metres. One of the discoveries was made at 4,340 metres below the sea floor, in the pre-salt layer, and, according to the company, the oil is light and is estimated at 40 million recoverable barrels.
The other, in the post-salt layer, therefore at lower depths, is estimated at 25 million barrels of recoverable oil. Petrobras informs that it already counts on a production and offloading structure in the region, platform P-43.
