Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras has climbed one position to the third place in global ranking PFC Energy 50. PFC Energy is a consultancy company in the energy area that operates alongside companies and governments worldwide.
Disclosed this week, the publication lists the main energy companies in the world in terms of market value. According to the consultancy company, Petrobras ended 2010 worth US$ 228.9 billion, ahead of Shell and Chevron, respectively the fourth and fifth placed companies. ExxonMobil and PetroChina are the two largest enterprises in the sector.
These figures were disclosed by Petrobras itself, which also points out the fact that consultancy company PFC Energy pointed out the "constant Petrobras growth, which rose from the 27th position in the first edition of the ranking, in 1999, to the third position in little over one decade."
"According to the consultancy company, the Petrobras market value, which was US$ 13.5 billion that year, has grown on average 27% a year. Still according to PFC Energy, the drop in petrobras share price in 2010 was compensated by a capital increase of US$ 67 billion," according to the state-owned company’s press statement.
PFC Energy publishes the ranking of 50 main listed energy companies every year and the main criteria used is the performance on capital markets. Established in 1984, PFC Energy has offices in Washington, Paris, Houston, Beijing, Manama, Lausanne, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur and Buenos Aires.
