São Paulo – From January to April, 226,000 tons worth of goods were shipped out via the Port of Pelotas, an amount equivalent to 81% of total throughput last year. The information was made public by Superintendência do Porto de Rio Grande, the port authority in charge.
The increase came as a result of the shipping of wood logs from the Port of Pelotas to the Celulose Riograndense paper factory in Guaiba, another city that’s home to a port, located in Greater Porto Alegre, the metropolitan area of the Rio Grande do Sul state capital.
The bulk of throughput at the seaport from January to April consisted of logs, followed by clinker, soy and wheat.
