São Paulo – The number of Syrian families living below the poverty line in Lebanon is 71%, according to survey conducted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and the World Food Programme (WFP). The information was published on the website of the UN Radio.
According to the survey, a third of Syrian refugees in Lebanon are in a situation of food insecurity from moderate to severe, an increase of 12% over data from 2015, when a similar survey was conducted.
Lebanon welcomed over a million Syrian refugees and comes in second in the number of refugees from Syria, trailing only Turkey.
