São Paulo – The National Committee for Refugees (Conare), an arm of the Ministry of Justice and Citizenship, is seeking volunteers to help with its operations in the city of São Paulo. The job requires availability to work twelve hours per week for three months, with part of the time (four hours) spent in Conare’s office and part on remote activities. Registrations are open until January 15.
The candidates must have completed or be attending a major in Law, International Relations, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Social Service or other related subject. An advanced level in English or French, computer skills and the ability to work with people in vulnerable situations are required.
The volunteers selected will perform tasks such as carry on surveys on the origin countries of those seeking asylum, assistance to the refugees in Brazil, translation of interviews and other administrative duties, according to the demand of the Conare office.
The volunteers that are able to meet the working time required will receive a certificate detailing the number of hours dedicated to the program. The working contracts can be renewed for three more months if both parties show interest. However, the volunteers that work less than three months won’t receive the certificate.
Office activities will take place in Conare’s headquarters, which is open from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm, in the district of Cambuci. The work away from the office can be done according to the availability of the volunteer, including weekends. The volunteers won’t receive any payment or have any employment relationship with Conare.
Those interested can send their curriculum and a letter of interest in Portuguese to the email [email protected] with the title Voluntariado janeiro/2017. The volunteer work will begin next month.
