São Paulo – Moroccan airline Royal Air Maroc began receiving the four jets manufactured by Brazilian company Embraer. According to the note released by the airline from the Arab country, the first plane arrived at the end of November and the other three will be delivered until the end of the year. The models E190 will be used on routes from Casablanca’s airport to African and European cities. One of the destinations that will receive Embraer’s jet is the French city Bordeaux.
With the new jets, Royal Air Maroc is now the third airline from the African continent to use Embraer’s planes. The other ones are Kenya Airways and LAM, from Mozambique. In the press release, Royal Air Maroc says that the models received from Embraer have a transportation capacity of 100 passengers, 88 of them in economy class and 12 in business.
The E190 aircraft are part of the Brazilian manufacturer’s commercial line. They have a flying range of up to 4,500 km and can reach cruising speed of 900 km per hour. The flight altitude is 12,500 meters.
Financial performance
Last Wednesday (03), the airline released information about the number of passengers in the fiscal year of 2014 (November 2013-October 2014). According to the document, the company’s air traffic volume increased by 6% over the same period of last year. The number of passengers carried went up 2% and broke the six million figures. The vast majority of these flights, 83% to be exact, were to international destinations.
