São Paulo – The embassy of Saudi Arabia to Brazil has informed the adoption of a new procedure for visa emission for Brazilians interested in visiting the country. The decision promises to simplify the life of those travelling regularly.
According to a press statement by the diplomatic office, presidents, directors and members of the board of directors of companies no longer need an invitation from a company or organisation to obtain an entry visa. They also no longer need a letter of presentation from a Chamber of Commerce.
Those interested and who fit the conditions above may request the document straight at the embassy. The cost is 1,000 Saudi rials, or US$ 267 at current exchange rates.
The visa is valid for a year and may be used for several entries, avoiding the need to obtain a new document every time the businessman is going to travel.
Saudi Arabia is Brazil’s main export destination in the Middle East and North Africa. Sales to the region totalled US$ 3.48 billion last year, growth of 12.2% over 2010, according to figures disclosed by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, complied by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
On the other lane, the country is Brazil’s second main supplier in the region, losing only to Algeria. In 2011, imports of Saudi products totalled US$ 3.1 billion, growth of 50% over the previous year.
