São Paulo – The Research Institute of Accounting, Actuarial and Financial Foundation (Fipecafi) is going to promote a seminar on Islamic finances in São Paulo next week. The lecturers will be representatives of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), a multilateral fostering institution based in Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia.
According to information supplied by the organization, the bank’s representatives Umer Chapra, Mabid Al Jarhi and Bambang Brodjonegoro, are going to discuss Islamic banking products, which follow Muslim religious rules, and how Brazilian institutions may have access to said products with the aid of the IsDB.
The event, due October 4th and 5th, counts on support from the School of Economy, Administration and Accounting of the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP) and the ABC Brasil Bank, a company of Arab origin whose international director is Angela Martins, an Islamic finance specialist.
The organization points out that the seminar will take place at a time in which business between Brazil and the Muslim countries is growing, hence its importance. In fact, Brazilian exports to the Arab countries have grown by 21.6% from January to August this year, compared with the same period of 2009, and reached US$ 7.35 billion, according to data supplied by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Also according to the organizers, the lectures on the first day will be geared towards businessmen, and in the second day, the target audience will be scholars. Enrolment is free of charge and will remain open until September 30th at 03:00 pm.
