São Paulo – Brazilian exports of components for shoes, leather and artefacts dropped by 1.2% in April compared with March and by 8.8% as against the same month of last year. Export revenues reached US$ 87 million, according to the Brazilian Association of Shoe and Leather Components Industries (Assintecal).
From January to April this year, revenues declined by 3.41% compared with the same period last year. Export revenues stood at US$ 340 million, resulting from sales to 149 different countries. Argentina, Germany, United States, Mexico and Venezuela ranked among the leading buyers.
Assintecal is expecting more promising figures in months to come. “From June onwards, shipments will tend to grow,” said general manager Diego Serafim according to a press statement. The main export products during the four-month period included chemicals for leather processing, soles and uppers.
