Brasília – The Brazilian balance of trade returned to a surplus last week, at US$ 542 million, after having run a US$ 731 million deficit in the second week of the month. The information was disclosed this Monday (19th) by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
Last week, exports reached US$ 5.077 billion, resulting in a daily average of US$ 1.015 billion. Imports stood at US$ 4.535 billion, at a daily average of US$ 907 million.
In the three weeks of the month, the trade surplus reached US$ 130 million, as a result of US$ 11.135 billion in exports (US$ 927.9 million per working day) and US$ 11.005 billion in imports (average of US$ 917.1 million per day).
From January until the third week of December, the trade surplus reached US$ 26.104 billion, 57.4% higher than in the same period of 2010 (US$ 16.589 billion). Exports stood at US$ 245.047 billion, resulting in a daily average of US$ 1.016 billion. Imports stood at US$ 218.943 billion, at a daily average of US$ 908.5 million.
