In the first week of the month, a US$ 319 million trade surplus was recorded, though the deficit announced today results in a US$ 411 million deficit month-to-date as of the second week of December. In the two weeks thus far in December, exports reached US$ 6.058 billion, at an average of US$ 865.4 million per working day. Imports stood at US$ 6.469 billion, at a daily average of US$ 924.1 million.
Year-to-date as of the second week of December, the Brazilian trade balance is running a US$ 25.563 billion surplus, 57.2% higher than in the same period of 2010 (US$ 16.259 billion). Exports stood at US$ 239.970 billion, at an average per working day of US$ 1.016 billion. The figure is 27.5% higher than in the period comprising the same number of working days (236) in 2010. Imports reached US$ 214.407 billion, a 24.6% increase over the same period of last year, resulting in an average of US$ 908.5 million per working day.
