Brasília – The Brazilian trade surplus, i.e. exports larger than imports, reached US$ 2.532 billion from the first to the third week this month, comprising 11 working days, the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade informed today (19). The average per working day was US$ 230.2 million.
During the period, exports hit US$ 12.776 billion, at an average of US$ 1.161 billion per working day. Imports hit US$ 10.244 billion, at an average of US$ 931.3 million per working day.
From January until the third week of September, the trade surplus stood at US$ 22.492 billion, at an average of US$ 125.7 million per working day. The figure is 80.8% higher than in the same period of 2010 (trade surplus of US$ 12.439 billion and daily average of US$ 69.5 million), which comprised the same number of working days (179).
Year-to-date as of last week, exports stood at US$ 179.490 billion, at an average of US$ 1.002 billion per working day. Imports stood at US$ 156.998 billion, at an average of US$ 877.1 million per working day.
