Abu Dhabi – The United Arab Emirates improved its position in six global competitiveness rankings this year, reported the Emirates News Agency (WAM). According to the news agency, this consolidates even more the country’s image as an investment attraction hub.
In the indicators mentioned, the UAE places first among the nations of the region, according to WAM. In the World Competitiveness Yearbook of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), the country climbed five positions in 2017, reaching the 10th place in the world ranking.
In the Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum, the UAE improved from 17th to the 16th place among the 138 countries surveyed in the 2016/2017 edition released at the end of September of last year.
The Arab nation went from 41th to the 35th position in the Global Innovation Index, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization and by the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business, in the United States.
In the report Doing Business, from the World Bank, the UAE climbed from the 34th position in 2016 to the 26th position in 2017; in the World Happiness Report, from the UN Sustainable Development Studies Network, from the 28th to the 21st; and in the Gender Inequality Index, from the United Nations Development Programme, the country is at the 46th position among the 159 nations.
