São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Education ordered on Monday (4) that all schools return to remote learning for the rest of the week, following a new wave of attacks against the country. Iran once again targeted UAE infrastructure, and a vessel belonging to the state oil giant ADNOC was also hit.
“The Ministry of Education announces a decision to shift to a remote learning system starting from Tuesday, May 5, 2026, until Friday, May 8, 2026,” read the statement posted by the ministry on social media.
The UAE has been affected by the war between the United States and Israel and Iran, becoming a target of Iranian retaliation. The Strait of Hormuz, which since the start of the conflict has had traffic disrupted for much of the time, is the route through which nearly all goods entering and leaving the UAE pass.
Among other impacts, the UAE has also seen its air traffic affected by the conflict in the Middle East. Passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport fell 66% in March compared to the same month in 2025, the emirate’s media office said on Monday.
