São Paulo – The Department of Antiquities and Heritage of Umm Al Quwain, one of the seven emirates that form the United Arab Emirates, announced Thursday (14) that it found traces of a human settlement of the sixth millennium B.C. in the Umm Al Quwain 2 archeological site. The information is from Emirates News Agency (WAM).
According to WAM, 7,000-year-old ruins and other 5,000-year-old traces were found. The agency also highlighted the discovery of the world’s oldest pearl, traced back to 7,500 years ago.
“The goal of this exploration is to find out the effects caused by those that came before us and try to identify their costumes and traditions”, said a statement released by the department.
The Umm Al Quwain emirate holds many archeological sites, according to WAM. Last year, for instance, was announced the discovery of tombs and artifacts dating back 2,000 years at the Ed-Dur site, one of the country’s largest.
