São Paulo – Vehicle exports from Brazil bounced back to growth in October from a year ago. Automakers, agricultural machinery and road implements manufacturers saw USD 955.3 million in foreign sales revenues last month, up 9.8% according to data made public this Monday (7) by the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea).
In October from September, however, export revenues slid 3.9%. Revenues were also down from January to October, by 1.9% from the year-ago period, to USD 8.65 billion.
The number of vehicles exported from Brazil last month was down 6.5% from September 2016 and 7.5% from October 2015 to 36,900 units. Year-to-date through October, export numbers were up 19.7% to 400,600 units.
Domestic sales were flat in October from September at 159,000 units sold. In October from October 2015, sales dropped by 17.2%, with year-to-date sales down 22.3% to 1.67 million automobiles, light commercial vehicles, bus and truck chassis sold.
Vehicle production in Brazil was up 2.3% in October from September to 174,200 units made. Year-on-year in October, production was down 15.1%. Year-to-date through October, production dropped 17.7% to 1.74 million units.
