São Paulo – This Friday, December 18, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) celebrates World Arabic Language Day. In promotional material, UNESCO’s director-general Irina Bokova dedicates the date to science and the dissemination of knowledge. The date was established by UNESCO in 2012.
“This is an opportunity to highlight the historical role of the Arabic language in research and dissemination of knowledge, and the importance of multilingualism for the research community today,” she said. According to her, UNESCO is committed to scientific training and education for all, including in the Arabic language, especially for young people.
