São Paulo – Brazil took a high-level delegation to the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, being held in Doha, Qatar, from the 12th until next Sunday (19th). The Brazilian group is composed of the country’s permanent representative with international organizations in Vienna, ambassador Evandro Didonet, the National Justice Secretary, Beto Vasconcelos, under-attorney general, José Bonifácio Borges de Andrada, and officials from the Ministry of External Relations (Itamaraty), Ministry of Justice and Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
The information was released by Itamaraty. The theme of the meeting is the integration of crime prevention and criminal justice to the UN’s agenda, as a way of facing social and economic challenges and promoting the constitutional state at a domestic and international level. Vasconcelos spoke at the congress and emphasized Brazil’s recent advances in legislation and public policies in the field, such as the passing of the organized crime law and the national campaign against human trafficking.
