São Paulo – Brazilian and Sudanese officials discussed cooperation between the two countries during the Seventh Brazil-Sudan Political Consultations Meeting held in Brasília on Monday (13). According to Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks covered bilateral issues, including agriculture, trade and investment, as well as regional and multilateral matters.
The Brazilian delegation was headed by Ambassador Carlos Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Sudanese delegation was led by Sudan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maowia Osman Khalid, who has been on an official visit to Brazil since late last week.
The political consultations between the two countries stem from a memorandum of understanding signed in 2006, which provides for the meetings to be held at mutually agreed dates, alternating between Brazil and Sudan.
