São Paulo – The Brazilian ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and of Foreign Relations will hold the Brazil-Middle East Agribusiness Investor Road Show on December 13 in Abu Dhabi. The event will see Brazilian agribusiness enterprises looking for investors sit down with executives from Arab investment funds.
The road show will happen on the sidelines of Sial Middle East – the food industry show running from December 12 to 14 in the UAE capital –, with support from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Registrations will be accepted until Monday (4) on the Brazilian Agriculture Ministry website.
The Ministry’s International Agribusiness Promotion department director Evaldo da Silva Júnior expects 15 Brazilian companies to join up. Their projects include building or expanding meat packing facilities or manufacturing plants for sugar, soybeans or maize, as well as storage facilities and agroenergy ventures. The Ministry will also make public a portfolio of 62 other projects in Brazil that require a combined USD 3.6 billion in investment.
Sitting opposite the Brazilians will be delegates from 15 to 20 funds in the UAE and nearby countries. Executives who joined a trip to Brazil organized by Abu Dhabi’s Food Security Center last October have confirmed their presence. A local company’s services have been secured to schedule meetings between Brazilian executives and Arab prospective investors.
“The purpose is to get the parties to meet and get in touch,” said Silva. To join up, Brazilian companies are required to have an agribusiness-related project, including estimated investment needs, rate of return and other information.
Projects will be divided by value range (up to USD 50 million, USD 50 million-USD 250 million, higher than USD 250 million) and forwarded to matching investment funds for appraisal. “Some funds, for instance, are only interested in projects Worth more than USD 250 million,” said Silva.
The executives joining the road show will also make technical visits, as well as attend the Sial show, where Brazil’s Agriculture and Foreign Relations ministries will have a stand, also backed by the Arab Chamber and Apex. The stand will feature 14 Brazilian food and beverage companies.
