Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras chairwoman Graça Foster has announced this Wednesday (3rd), based on preliminary figures for August, that the Brazilian state-owned oil company’s output is expected to have broken a new monthly output record, at roughly 2.1 million barrels per day. The executive avoided disclosing exact figures, since the company’s results have not been released yet, but said growth had already been a record in July, and noted that August is the seventh month in an upward trend.
"We are very thrilled with the current moment and completely confident about the near future," said Foster, who said she will "not give up" the 7.5% growth target for this year. Year-to-date through July, Petrobras’ output increased by 1.5% from the same period in 2013. The chairwoman also announced that she expects pre-salt oil output to have hit an all-time high in August, and total output to have surpassed 2.2 million oil barrels.
