The number of visa requests by small entrepreneurs doubled between 2002 and 2003. Last week, the Brazilian government lowered the minimum value for investment in the country from US$ 200,000 to US$ 50,000. The largest demand is for business in the tourism sector, including inns and restaurants in costal regions.

The jewellery fair in Bahrain ends on Saturday. Almost all of the 10 Brazilian companies that participated in the event want to return for the next edition, but with new marketing strategies and products that match international fashion tendencies.

The partnership between the Brazilian export consortium and representatives from Lebanon and Saudi Arabia was made official during the 9th Beirut Fashion. Agência Brasil Moscow (Russia) – Today marks the start of the "Brazil-Russia Fashion" exposition, a presentation of Brazilian jewelry, clothing, footwear, and cosmetic products. The event began with a fashion show including pieces designed by Alexandre Herchovich, Amir Slama, and Walter Rodrigues, famous Brazilian designers. N&N Polpas e Frutas sold 5,000 tons of the product in foreign markets last year. About 180 tons went to the Arab countries, which use the purée to produce juice, ice cream, yoghurt and baby food. The factory aims to export 7,500 tons per year, where 1,500 tons would go to the Arab market.
Industry Americanflex sold eight containers of mattresses and furniture and decoration producer Antiqua has already sold all the products exhibited at Index. Worried about being too dependent on oil, the Arab countries are interested in Brazilian technology. According to the special consultant at the Manaus Free Zone Superintendence, Khaled Sarout, Brazil is interesting for the Arabs since it is a potential exporter in this sector. The industrial pole in Manaus holds 430 companies, most of the in the technology sector.
In all, 35 Brazilian companies are going to exhibit in a 500 square-meter space at Index, the main event in the sector in the Middle East. The mission is organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and by the Brazilian Export Promotion Agency. Present at the event will be businessmen from the state of Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Minas Gerais.
