In the state of Acre, wheat middling is replaced with cassava or rice for cooking kibbeh. The food is named ‘quebe’ and is successful in the region, which has a strong presence of Arab immigrants.

The industry’s revenues from foreign trade remained stable in January compared with the same month of 2009, but grew 28.8% in terms of volume. Exports totalled 17.5 million pairs.

A bulletin issued by the Confederation of Industries today shows revenues in December 2009 exceeded by 0.2% the results for September 2008, which preceded the worsening of the international crisis.
