São Paulo – Brazil exported 2,874,581 60-kilogram bags of coffee in October, down 9.5% from the same month of last year, according to figures released this Tuesday (7th) by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé). Revenues amounted to US$ 607.3 million, down 32.3% using the same basis of comparison.
From January to October 2012, nearly 22.5 million bags were shipped, down 18.1% from the same period in 2011. Export revenues stood at US$ 5.16 billion, down 26.8%.
Despite the decline in sales volume, Cecafé director general Guilherme Braga was quoted in a statement as saying that figures tend to return to normal. According to him, estimates have been maintained in the 28.5 million to 29 million bags range for the entire year.
