São Paulo – Fertilizer imports to Brazil slid by 10.8% in April and by 13.2% from January through April, the National Fertilizer Association (Anda) reported.
Last month saw 1.58 million tons worth of fertilizer imported to Brazil, down from 1.78 million tons in April 2017. From January to April of this year, imports reached 6.3 million tons, down from 7.2 million tons a year ago.
Domestic fertilizer production also dropped both in April and through April, whereas exports from Brazil increased in April and went down through April. Fertilizer stockpiles are higher and sales in Brazil picked up both in and through April.
