São Paulo – Under theme “Brazil, Food and Energy: Global Security”, the 11th Brazilian Agribusiness Congress, to take place on August 6th, in São Paulo, should cover the part played by the country in the supply of food and energy to the world in coming decades. The event is promoted by the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (Abag) and will count on the presence of leaderships in the sector all over Brazil. All sessions of the congress will have simultaneous translation to English and will be broadcast on the Internet.
"The global scenery of instability in offer provides ample opportunities for Brazil to make use of and establish itself as a great supplier of foods and renewable energy. All that remains is verifying that conviction in the Brazilian society to follow this direction,” said Luiz Carlos Corrêa Carvalho, the Abag president, in a press statement disclosed by the organisation.
The programme of the event includes talk Economic Evolution: Income and Consumption of Foods and Energy… 20 years ; and panels: Brazil as a food source: What is essential?, Brazil as an energy source: What is essential?, Food and energy security: limitations and possible policies and main suppliers and Public Policies and Brazil offering food and energy.
Among the participants are names like Luciano Coutinho, president of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), André Dias, president of Monsanto, Ivan Wedekin, Commodities director at BM&FBovespa, Mônika Bergamaschi, Agriculture and Food Supply secretary of the State of São Paulo, Roberto Rodrigues, former Agriculture minister of Brazil and coordinator of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation Agribusiness Centre, among others.
"Together with the government, sector leaders need to generate awareness in the national and international societies about what Brazil thinks regarding how to produce sustainable food and energy to supply the growing global demand,” adds the Abag president in a press statement.
