São Paulo – The economic slowdown on Latin America and the Caribbean countries could lead to a rise in the unemployment informality rates, said this Friday (10th) the director-general of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Rider at the 7th Summit of the Americas, being held in Panama.
According to information released by Agência Brasil, OIT has said that urban unemployment rates in Latin American and the Caribbean dropped from 11.1% to 6.1% in the last 10 years. However, Ryder said that the agency is expecting these rates to rise in 2015 already to 6.3%. The reason is the slow economic growth in the region.
“We need to look for an economic growth model that generates more and better jobs for all”, he said. The ILO estimation indicates the need for the opening of 50 million job posts to receive the youth looking for employment.
