São Paulo – Mauritania has opened its market to imports of bovine embryos, oocytes and semen from Brazil. The announcement was made on Wednesday (8) by Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Data from Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) show that Brazilian exports to Mauritania totaled US$61.8 million between January and June this year, down 44.9% compared with the same period last year. The main products exported to the country are sugar and chicken meat.
In May this year, Brazil’s ambassador to Nouakchott, Evaldo Freire, discussed expanding bilateral cooperation with Mauritania’s Minister of Livestock, Sid’ Ahmed Ould Mohammed. According to the official statement, Nigeria has also opened its market to additional Brazilian products.
