São Paulo – Brazilian minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Roberto Rodrigues, expressed optimism regarding advances unblocking negotiations of agricultural negotiations of the World Trade Organizaton (WTO).
He informed this Tuesday (15) that a document is being prepared by the NG-5 (a group of which the United States, the European Union, Australia and India are also members), whose meeting took place parallel to the 11th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad).
According to him, the document will bring together arguments in the combat of export subsidies, internal support and market access. The letter will be concluded at the end of the meeting and presented at WTO meetings in Geneva.
The document may benefit Brazilian agribusiness, the potentials of which were presented in Space Brazil, also taking place parallel to Unctad. The minister said, to an audience of possible investors, that agribusiness accounts for one third of the national Brazilian Gross Domestic Product and is one of the segments that creates most jobs in the country.
