São Paulo – Milipol defense exhibition started on Monday, 15, in Doha, Qatar. Brazil is participating with a pavilion organized by the Brazilian Defense and Security Industries Association (Abimde) as well as nine Brazilian companies.
Qatar’s prime minister and Interior minister Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani visited the Brazilian pavilion to see the innovations on display. Representatives of countries such as Switzerland, Malaysia, and South Korea have also paid a visit.
Only five countries have exclusive pavilions at Milipol Qatar, and Brazil is one of them.
Brazilian companies participating are Atech, Avibras, CBC, Condor, Embraer, Kryptus, M&K, Siatt, and Taurus. Abimde aims at supporting the industry’s companies in expanding their business in the foreign market as it did at Idex, a defense industry event in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates last February.
In addition to employees of Abimde, the pavilion features Brazil’s ambassador to Qatar, Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado, as well as officials of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense’s Secretariat of Defense Products (SEPROD).
“The first day of the Milipol has been quite interesting for our companies. We’ve strengthened our space in the world scene,” said ABIMDE Projects and Institutional Relations director Paulo Albuquerque.
Milipol Qatar takes place at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) and runs through Wednesday, 17. This is the second security industry event Brazil participates in since the beginning of the pandemic, after Idex.
The Brazilian participation in Milipol is promoted by Abimde and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and supported by the ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs as well as the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).
