São Paulo – Business meetings held in late April between Brazilian producers of nuts and peanuts and importers led to sales worth USD 4.62 million, plus the potential for USD 27.55 million over the next 12 months. The Nuts and Peanuts Buyer Project took place in São Paulo as an initiative of the office of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. The effort was carried out in tandem with the agency’s offices in Belgium, Russia, and Colombia.
Sixteen prospective buyers were invited by Apex-Brasil. There were over 160 meetings with 11 Brazilian exporters of cashew nuts, Brazil nuts and peanuts. This was the second time the action happened. In 2016 it led to USD 3.5 million in deals. “Apart from the excellent results business-wise, the action is also a great example of a joint effort and successful partnership between different areas of our Agency,” an Apex-Brasil press release quoted Karen Jones, the Dubai office head of Operations, as saying.
