São Paulo – Qatari athlete Mutaz Essa Barshim, 25 years old, won the silver medal in the men’s high jump in the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games with a jump of 2.36 meters. The event’s final took place on Tuesday (16) evening at the Olympic Stadium. In 2012, in the London Games, Barshim won the bronze medal.
The winner of the event was Canadian Derek Drouin, who jumped 2.38 meters. Ukrainian Bohdan Bondarenko finished in third, winning the bronze medal, with a jump of 2.33 meters.
