São Paulo – This year’s edition of the Big 5 fair will have the participation of six Brazilian companies in a 120 square meter stand. The exhibition is largest from the construction sector in the Middle East and is organized every year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This year it will take place from November 23th to 26th. Just like the other editions, the Brazilian stand will be organized by a partnership between the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
According to information by the Arab Chamber, the companies to attend the fair this year are Pettrus, of decorative stones; Deca, sanitary ware and metal fittings; Tramontina, which manufactures, among others, tools, vats and sinks; Poliex, marble company; Itagres, porcelain and ceramic tiles; and Rohden, door manufacturer. Tramontina, Pettrus and Deca will occupy two stands.
The Arab Chamber will also have its own space in the Brazilian pavilion. Companies that won’t attend the fair can contact the organization for it to distribute promotion material.
According to the Arab Chamber’s CEO, Michel Alaby, Big 5 offers opportunities for the country’s companies in a promising market. “The fair is an opportunity for Brazilian companies in a year in which the country is facing a downturn, and this sector (construction) has been hit hard. Besides, the real depreciated by 50% against the dollar in 12 months, which turns the Brazilian product more competitive. Also, another opportunity arises from the large projects in the sector in the Middle East and Asia”, said Alaby.
Among the large projects planned for the next few years are shopping malls and hospital complexes in the Gulf countries, expansion of airports, construction of islands and railways and the expansion of the infrastructure sector in Asian countries, such as India.
Alaby stated also that Big 5 is an opportunity for companies that already attended the exhibition to strengthen their brands. “Companies such as Pettrus, Deca and Tramontina have already been to other editions and will present their range of products again, which shows that they are investing in the Middle East market and want to consolidate their brand there”, said Alaby.
