São Paulo – A strategic study will support Aluminum Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), Bahrain’s aluminum producer, in its energy transition and decarbonization efforts. The report was completed by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), according to state news agency BNA published on Tuesday (11). Derasat is a Bahrain-based think tank that develops solutions to regional and international challenges.
According to the BNA report, the study, “Pathways for Alba’s Energy Transition and Decarbonization,” provides insights to support Alba’s decision-making on energy diversification, operational and financial resilience, and long-term competitiveness, with practical recommendations to advance its emissions reduction goals while safeguarding the reliability of energy supply.
Using advanced modeling and scenario-based analysis, the study evaluates pathways for Alba through 2050, examining how evolving energy sources, contractual structures, and emerging technologies could affect operating costs, carbon footprint, and energy security amid changes in global LNG markets and shifting fuel market dynamics in Bahrain.
Alba CEO Ali Al Baqali said the study serves as a valuable roadmap for the company’s sustainable growth and long-term resilience.
“The study’s recommendations reinforce our commitment to improving energy efficiency, diversifying energy sources, and reducing our carbon footprint. By translating these insights into concrete actions, we will strengthen Alba’s global competitiveness while supporting Bahrain’s national goals for a sustainable, low-carbon economy,” Al Baqali said, according to the BNA report.
