Thousand and One Nights is translated from Arabic to Portuguese
The book by Globo publishing house will be at bookstores on Saturday (7). This is the first time that the adventures of Sahrazad will be reaching Brazilian readers and remaining faithful to the original Arabic manuscripts. Tales like Aladdin and Simbad the Sailor, for example, are not in the book, as they were incorporated into the French edition. The text was translated by professor Mamede Mustafa Jarouche, who studied Arabic manuscripts in Europe and the Middle East for five years.
