Brazil to execute greatest study in the world of stem cell use in heart diseases treatment
Adult cells will be used. The study, launched by the Ministry of Health, will gather 40 medical institutions and 1,200 patients with heart diseases. The cost of the research is estimated at US$ 5 million. However, if successful, it may reduce expenditure with the public health system in the country by US$ 173 million per year, since preliminary studies indicate that the technique implies simpler surgeries and shorter internment periods.
