São Paulo – The ambassador of Brazil to Doha, Hildebrando Tadeu Valladares, met on Monday (2) with the crown prince of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in the capital city of the Arab country. According to Valladares, it was a courtesy visit to the prince, as the Brazilian has only been in the country for three months. However, they discuss topics of interest to both countries. Valadares also stated that there are companies in the building sector that are interested in participating in infrastructure works in Qatar.
"It was a courtesy meeting. I have been here for three months; I was inaugurated on January 3rd. Of course we discussed bilateral relations, regarding important aspects to both countries,” said Valladares.
The ambassador of Brazil recalled, however, that there is company interest in investing in the country, mainly in the building sector. "There is interest in exploring the construction works market in Qatar," said the ambassador. He mentioned that construction companies like Odebrecht and Queiroz Galvão have small representative offices in the country and that, in the near future, construction company OAS should do the same.
In February, during a delegation headed by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade to the Middle East, Brazilian businessmen participated in a seminar in Doha. The event was promoted by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) office in Doha. At the occasion, Brazilian businessmen could show the country’s building sector experience focussing on partnerships and projects for the 2022 World Cup, to take place in Qatar.
