São Paulo – In its fourth participation as an exhibitor at the APAS Show supermarket fair, held in São Paulo, Oriental Fruits, an Egyptian frozen food company, is attending the event to reconnect with old clients and aiming to attract new buyers. Like it, other brands from the Arab country also have booths at the fair, looking to expand their business.
With garlic as its flagship product, Oriental Fruits is well-established in Brazil. “Brazil is very important for our company because it represents the largest buyer of our garlic. We started selling it here four years ago, and now Brazil purchases 80% of what we grow in Egypt,” says the general manager of Oriental Fruits, Wael Soliman. The company is also present in other South American countries, such as Argentina, and in the Caribbean region.
No mercado brasileiro, os produtos da companhia chegam nas regiões Sul, Norte e Centro-Oeste. The company’s products reach Brazil’s South, North, and Center-West regions. “We started by selling garlic, but two years ago, we began exporting frozen products like strawberry, potato, broccoli, beans, and cauliflower to Brazil. The country is so important to our company that when we talk about strawberries, 90% of what we produce is sold here,” adds Wael.
Headquartered in Kuwait, Egyptian company Mima Foods, which produces and exports frozen vegetables and fruits, is participating for the second time in the APAS Show to attract more buyers.
“Strawberries are our number one product in sales and are exported to various countries worldwide, including Brazil. We have very high expectations regarding the export of this product to Brazil this year,” says Mima Foods’ Sales and Exports Manager Anna Gurina.
Like Mima Foods, in its second participation at the fair, Frozen Gate aims to sell more frozen strawberries and expand its customer base in Brazil.
“We’ve had customers in Brazil for 10 years, so we know how vast the Brazilian market is and how much we can explore it. Although our main clients are European, Brazilians make doing business with us much easier, which is why we want to further increase sales to this country,” explains Abdelrahman Hussien Makram, Vice Export Manager at Frozen Gate.
Elswedy Food Industries, which sells frozen fruits and vegetables from Egypt, has a factory with a capacity of 2,500 tons of food. Strawberry is one of their main products, too. Their client base includes various countries in Europe, China, Russia, and Brazil.
“We know Brazil has a high demand for our products, so in our second participation at APAS Show, we hope to acquire more customers here. In addition to Brazil, we’re also interested in selling to other countries in South America,” says Hany Elswedy, CEO of Elswedy Food Industries.
Dalsa Food, a company specialized in frozen fries, is another that shows great interest in doing more business in Brazil. “We already have many Brazilian buyers, and every month we export 150 containers to Brazil,” says Mahmound El Damasi, owner of Dalsa Food. The Egyptian company is making its second appearance at APAS Show with the addition of strawberries to its product portfolio.
Like Tunisian and Emirati brands, Egyptian companies are participating in the APAS Show in São Paulo, with booths organized by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). The fair started last Monday (12) and runs until Thursday (15) at Expo Center Norte, featuring over 900 exhibitors.
