São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce should present business opportunities in the Arab countries, this week and next. Promotion should be through seminars in Porto Alegre, the capital of the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, and Florianópolis, the capital of the neighbouring Santa Catarina. The talks will be made by the secretary general at the organisation, Michel Alaby.
On Thursday (2), in the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul, Alaby should provide a general panorama of the Arab market and show how to negotiate with companies in the region. "I am going to speak about some sectors for export, like building material and food, and also about opportunities for the import of products like textile, food, chemicals, fertilizers, electric material and disposable medical articles," he said.
The seminar should be organised by the Federation of Traders of Goods and Services of Rio Grande do Sul (Fecomércio-RS). “They want to start working with the Chamber to offer services and opportunities for companies in Rio Grande do Sul," pointed out the secretary general.
He should speak about business events to take place this year. Among them is the Big 5 Show, the main building sector fair in the Middle East, in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, once again to have a Brazilian pavilion organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
This year the stand should have space for 27 companies, with 12 already having confirmed their presence. Enrolment may be made up to late September (see contact information below) and the fair should take place in November.
Also in November, the Arab Brazilian Chamber should promote participation of Brazilian companies in Mactech, a fair in the machinery and equipment sector to take place in Egypt. Organisation should be in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Relations. Alaby should speak about the Egyptian fair, recalling the free trade agreement that the Mercosur recently signed with the Arab country.
He should also mention the presence of Arab companies at Fisa, a fair of food products to take place from September 21st to 23rd, in São Paulo, and at Apas 2011, a fair in the supermarket sector, also in São Paulo.
Building
In Florianópolis, the talk should take place on the 13th and should be turned exclusively to the building sector. Organised by the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (Fiesc), it should serve to release a trade mission that the organisation has promoted to the Emirates each year at the time of the Big 5.
Despite being promoted by the state federation, the delegation is an event coordinated by the National Confederation of Industries (CNI) and, therefore, companies from all over Brazil may participate.
Apart from visiting the fair, the mission should include technical thematic seminars in other emirates, like Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah.
