São Paulo – Aganqeeb Construction Material Manufacturing Company, headquartered in Amman, Jordan, aims to buy granite and marble directly from Brazilian suppliers. For this reason, the organisation sent a representative to Vitória Stone Fair, to seek national companies that may export stone to the Arab country.
Vitória Stone Fair, the largest fair in the ornamental stone sector in the country, started on Tuesday (7) and ends on Friday (10), in Vitória, Espírito Santo.
"We already import Brazilian stones, but we buy them in Italy. This is the first time I come to Brazil and I want to buy directly from local producers,” said Khader Abu Khader, manager at Aganqeeb, in an interview to ANBA.
According to Clarissa Amadio, business executive at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, who is accompanying participation of Arab companies at Vitória Stone Fair, Khader is mainly interested in buying granite blocks, as there is no import tax on this kind of product in Jordan.
"For the import of plates, in turn, the tax is 30%. To him, it is only interesting to purchase plates of exotic stone,” she added. According to the executive, the Jordanian company mainly seeks blocks of Giallo Fiorito, Giallo California, Green Butterfly and Green Ubatuba granite.
The Jordanian company has been importing Brazilian stone for seven years. “There are good sources of stone in Brazil. There is a great variety of colours. The country is not yet among the main suppliers, but is rising to the top of the list,” said Khader.
The Arab importer also had business meetings in the sidelines of the fair. In one of these meetings, he signed an order for eleven containers with a Brazilian supplier of Giallo California granite. Khader says he is enjoying the event. “I met good suppliers, with good potential. I think I am going to buy several containers.”
