São Paulo – The third edition of international handicraft fair Art Mundi, to be held in the city of São Paulo beginning on Friday (03rd), is going to offer products from 16 Brazilian states and 28 countries, among them Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Palestine. The exhibition will continue until Sunday (12th) at Expo Center Norte.
From the Arab countries, visitors will be able to check out boxes and furniture of marquetry wood, cushion covers, narghiles, perfume bottles, table towels, turbans, costume jewellery, ceramics and decoration items. Most exhibitors have already participated in past editions of the Art Mundi and stated that the Brazilian public loves Arab handicraft.
In total, approximately 50,000 items by 1,500 artisans will be on display at more than 300 stands. According to the organisers of the fair, the Art Mundi is a tourist attraction and, at the same time, a hub for business and commercial exchange among several countries. The public that attends the event is quite diverse, comprised of professionals in architecture, designers, decorators and curious people.
In this edition, Art Mundi will feature some divisions by theme, such as Art Oriental, which will bring together handicraft from Japan, China and other countries in the Far East. The premises will also have cultural premises with musical presentations and a food court offering typical Japanese food. Another division is "África Sem Fronteiras" (Africa Without Borders) which, in addition to handicraft from the African countries, will present workshops and exhibitions.
The fair will also have spaces named "Art Sustentável" (Sustainable Art), "Art Gastronomia" (Cuisine Art), "Criando Arte" (Creating Art) and Art Design. The latter will be destined for national artists who develop high value added work.
